Comments:
Exposure to bromide compounds such as methyl bromide or potassium bromide can cause severe skin reactions. Methyl bromide has been used as a pesticide and disinfectant as well as in the pharmaceutical industry (in sedative syrups and expectorants). Potassium bromide has been used as an anticonvulsant.

The skin manifestations of severe exposure to bromide include erythematous bullous and vesicular lesions, hyperpigmentation, urticaria, acneiform/pustular lesions, ulcerated plaques, and necrotizing panniculitis. The lesions are most commonly seen in intertriginous regions and sites of mechanical pressure.
