Clinical Features: Like conventional thecomas, luteinized thecomas also occur most commonly in post-menopausal women; however, about 30% of cases occur in women under 30 years of age. About 50% of cases produce estrogen, 40% are non-functioning, and 10% are androgenic.

Luteinized thecoma with sclerosing peritonitis (LTSP) occurs mainly in young women and presents with abdominal swelling, ascites and symptoms of intestinal obstruction. Hormonal manifestations are not present.

The image shows clusters of lutein cells with clear or microvacuolated cytoplasm in a background of typical thecoma.
