Differential Diagnosis of Adult Granulosa Cell Tumor (GCT) of Ovary: continued from prev. image

Sex Cord Tumor with Annular Tubules (SCTAT): SCTAT has larger structures and spaces than Call-Exner bodies with hyaline basement membrane material. SCTAT is composed of simple and complex ring-shaped tubules with nuclei located both centrally near the lumen and at the periphery. Cases associated with Peutz-Jeghers syndrome are small, multiple, and bilateral.

Large Solitary Luteinized Follicle Cyst of Pregnancy (LSLFCP) may resemble unilocular cystic adult GCT. Features favoring LSLFCP include recent history of pregnancy, presence of large luteinized cells with bizarre nuclei, and absence of typical granulosa cells with grooved nuclei.

Gonadoblastoma: Gonadoblastomas usually arise in a background of gonadal dysgenesis. They have germ cells as well as hyaline deposits that are larger than Call-Exner bodies.
