Insular Carcinoid Tumor: Ovarian carcinoids can be primary or metastatic. The insular pattern consists of solid nests separated by scant vascular stroma which may show a prominent retraction artifact. This tumor can resemble insular pattern of adult GCT. Features favoring carcinoid include granular eosinophilic cytoplasm, salt and pepper chromatin, presence of calcification, and positivity for neuroendocrine markers.
