Microscopic Features of Gonadoblastoma (continued from previous image): Within nests, the granulosa cells are arranged in a follicle-like pattern around central round spaces containing eosinophilic basement membrane material. Germ cells may show mitoses; however, sex cord-stromal cells are mitotically inactive. Calcification of the stroma is commonly present, and may be extensive (see next image). Some tumors are completely calcified and are often detected incidentally on pelvic or abdominal X-rays ordered for other reasons.
