Ovary : Goblet Cell Carcinoid

Mucinous (goblet cell) Carcinoid of the Ovary: Morphologically, it is indistinguishable from its appendiceal counterpart. It consists of clusters of small glands and acini lined by goblet cells and columnar cells, floating in pools of acellular mucin. The nuclei of the tumor cells are compressed and pushed to the periphery resulting in crescentic shape and imparting a signet ring cell appearance. Some tumor cells carry reddish-brown argentaffin granules. Transformation to carcinoma-ex-goblet cell carcinoid can occur.
