Comments:
Low-grade papillary urothelial carcinomas display minimal cytologic and architectural atypia. These features should be assessed in perpendicularly sectioned papillary fronds. There is some loss of polarity, minimal nuclear pleomorphism, occasional hyperchromatic nuclei, and infrequent mitotic figures usually (but not always) confined to the basal half of the urothelium.
