Comments:
Immunohistochemical Profile: Calretinin is positive and is useful in differentiating myxomas (positive) from myxofibrosarcomas (negative). Cytokeratin is focally positive in cases with glandular differentiation. Histiocytic/macrophage markers are positive. Other variably positive markers include: vimentin (50%), SMA, NSE (50%), S100 (60-85%) and synaptophysin. Desmin is negative. CD34 stains the endothelial cells. The myxoma cells clustering around the vascular spaces are CD34 negative.

The image shows myxoma cells arranged singly and in elongated cords in myxoid stroma.
