Infective endocarditis presenting as leukocytoclastic vasculitis. The underlying mechanism is deposition of immune complexes in the walls of small blood vessels and activation of complement cascade with resultant damage to the vessel walls. This image shows purpuric rash in the lower extremity of a patient with infective endocarditis.
