Hemangiopericytomatous areas (stag horn vessels) are frequently seen in a synovial sarcoma and may create confusion with solitary fibrous tumor/hemangiopericytoma. An important distinguishing feature is negativity for CD34 in synovial sarcoma in contrast to strong positivity in solitary fibrous tumor/hemangiopericytoma.
