Comments:
High-power view shows a relatively hypocellular lesion composed of stellate and spindle cells in a myxoid stroma. Pleomorphism is minimal and mitotic figures are scarce. It may be difficult to distinguish from low-grade fibromyxoid sarcoma (LGFMS). LGFMS occurs in young patients, shows less atypia, has admixture of myxoid and fibrous areas in stroma, and shows translocation t(7;16) resulting in fusion of FUS gene and CREB3L2 gene.
