Comments:
Elastofibroma - Morphology (continued): The abnormal elastic fibers stand out as darker eosinophilic, coarse, rope-like beaded structures against light pink collagenized background. Fragmentation of elastic fibers results in flower-like serrated globoid structures. With elastic stains (Verhoeff), the fibers show a dense core and a serrated, moth-eaten margin.

The background contains scattered CD34-positive bland spindle cells, small blood vessels and areas of hyalinized or mucoid matrix. Mitotic figures and nuclear pleomorphism are not present.
