Ischemic Fasciitis : Gross Pathology

Gross Pathology of Ischemic fasciitis: It appears as a poorly-circumscribed, myxoid mass measuring up to 10 cm in size. It is centered in the subcutis but may extend into the overlying deep dermis or spread downward into the skeletal muscle or adjacent periosteum. Areas of hemorrhage and necrosis are common. Some cases show epidermal ulceration. Grossly, it may be indistinguishable from other benign and malignant mesenchymal lesions.
