Hibernoma : Differential Diagnosis

Differential Diagnosis: The differential diagnosis of hibernoma includes benign and malignant tumors with abundant granular eosinophilic cytoplasm such as adult rhabdomyoma, granular cell tumor and certain liposarcoma variants.

Adult Rhabdomyoma: This is a benign tumor showing skeletal muscle differentiation. It consists of large polygonal cells with abundant eosinophilic cytoplasm. The tumor cells are larger than hibernoma cells and may show cross-striations. There is strong immunoreactivity for desmin and MSA.
