Comments:
Nodular fasciitis is benign reactive process incited by local injury or an inflammatory process. A simple excision is curative. It rarely recurs, even with incomplete excision. Unfortunately, it is frequently misdiagnosed as a sarcoma leading to unnecessary radical surgery.

The image shows stellate and spindle-shaped fibroblasts and myofibroblasts in a hyalinized stroma containing extravasated red blood cells.
