Paget Disease of Bone (PDB) - Mixed Osteolytic & Osteoblastic Phase: In this intermediate phase, osteoblasts are more active and bone formation predominates over bone resorption. Osteoblasts line resorption bays (several of which are seen in this image) which were created by osteoclasts in the early (lytic) phase. The patches of newly formed woven bone laid down by osteoblasts are separated from the established bone by prominent, irregular blue cement lines, creating a mosaic pattern.
