Ulcerative Colitis

Endoscopic biopsy from a patient with ulcerative colitis showing crypt abscess (lower right) and increased number of inflammatory cells in the lamina propria. The regenerating epithelium in the crypts appears immature and shows decreased cytoplasmic mucin (mucin depletion). The nuclei show reactive atypia.
