Neuroendocrine carcinomas in the stomach fall into two categories: large cell and small cell. They are larger and more aggressive than well-differentiated neuroendocrine tumors (carcinoids), with a worse prognosis. The image shows a large cell neuroendocrine carcinoma in the submucosa.
