Comments:
Squamous metaplasia is usually an incidental finding in the setting of prostatitis and infarction in the nodules of benign prostatic hyperplasia. It is also frequently seen following various modalities of treatment such as surgery, hormonal therapy, and radiation. The image shows squamous metaplasia in a prostate needle biopsy in a patient with remote history of external beam radiation therapy for prostate cancer.
