Image Description

Cellular Features of Pancreatic Neuroendocrine Tumors (PanNETs): The neoplastic cells of PanNETs are small, monomorphic, cuboidal with finely granular eosinophilic or amphophilic cytoplasm. They have centrally located, round to oval uniform nuclei with coarsely clumped chromatin (salt and pepper appearance).

Some PanNETs have tall columnar cells arranged in ribbons and serpentine cords (see next image). Uncommon features include enlarged nuclei, prominent nucleoli, and irregular nuclear membrane. These features have no apparent clinical significance.
