The diagnostic hallmark of mucinous carcinoma of the breast is clusters of invasive tumor cells in pools of abundant extracellular mucin. The mucin pools are partially separated by delicate fibrous septa. The tumor cells are arranged in solid, cribriform and trabecular patterns.
