slide 6 of 22

Comments:
The invasive component in this case consists of irregularly shaped nests of tumor cells within superficial lamina propria. The invading cells look different from those at the base of the tumor with more abundant, dense eosinophilic cytoplasm and pleomorphic nuclei. This phenomenon has been referred to as paradoxical differentiation.
