Comments:
This 62 y/o male underwent nephroureterectomy for papillary urothelial carcinoma of the renal pelvis. Ureteritis cystica was an incidental finding. The ureter shows several translucent submucosal fluid-filled cysts measuring up to 0.8 cm in size. Microscopically, they were lined by attenuated urothelium and surrounded by Brunn nests. Ureteritis cystica and ureteritis glandularis are reactive changes similar to their counterparts in the bladder.
