Squamous Cell Carcinoma : Gross

slide 4 of 33

Comments:
Squamous cell carcinomas usually arise centrally in a main or lobar bronchus and appear as a large hilar or perihilar mass.

In this image, the tumor appears as multifocal yellowish-white, granular areas on the bronchial mucosa with infiltration into the adjacent lung parenchyma. The center of the image shows a hilar lymph node with tumor deposits.
