Interstitial Cystitis

slide 34 of 36

Comments:
The histologic findings in interstitial cystitis are non-specific and include mucosal tears; microhemorrhages in lamina propria; chronic inflammatory infiltrate composed of lymphocytes, macrophages, and plasma cells. Mast cell count may be increased in the muscularis propria (shown here), although the significance of this finding is controversial.
