Comments:
This specimen is from an elderly female who presented with a breast lump and axillary lymphadenopathy. After clinical and radiologic evaluation and a core biopsy, radical mastectomy with axillary lymph node dissection was performed.

The specimen shows a 6 cm tumor with irregular infiltrating borders. In addition, there is a separate 3 cm oval lesion in the upper outer quadrant. The axillary tail shows several lymph nodes which are clearly positive for metastatic carcinoma on gross examination. Microscopically, the tumor was infiltrating high-grade ductal carcinoma.
