Comments:
It is a low-grade tumor that does not metastasize. It must be distinguished from adenoid cystic carcinoma and basaloid squamous cell carcinoma with which it shares many features. The patient is usually post-menopausal and the presenting features is an abnormal Pap smear. It does not produce a mass lesion and is usually discovered incidentally. The low power view shows round or oval clusters of basaloid cells in the stroma.
