Myolipoma : Clinical Features

Clinical Features: Most patients are female in their 5th or 6th decade of life (median age 55 years). It is usually found as a deep-seated tumor in the retroperitoneum (50%), pelvis (15%), abdominal wall, intra-abdominal sites, or inguinal/vulva/groin region. Uncommonly, it occurs as a subcutaneous mass in the extremities or the trunk.

Deep-seated tumors are initially asymptomatic and often discovered incidentally on imaging. They may reach massive proportions (15-25 cm) and produce symptoms associated with a large abdominal mass, including pain, distension, and urinary symptoms. The lesions of extremities or trunk produce a small palpable mass.
