Comments:
Diffuse-type adenocarcinoma (also known as Linitis Plastica) is more frequently seen in the stomach but may also be occasionally encountered elsewhere in the gastrointestinal tract. Here it is seen involving the recto-sigmoid region. Diffuse infiltration of the wall by signet ring cells accompanied by desmoplastic response results in thickening and rigidity of the wall and loss of mucosal folds as seen here.
