Signet ring cells are admixed with plump stromal cells. The average age of a patient with Krukenberg tumor is around 45 years at the time of presentation. The usual presenting symptoms are abdominal pain and ascites. The prognosis is extremely poor; most patients succumb to the disease within a year.
