Comments:
The classification of GCC's proposed by Tang et al (Am J Surg Pathol 2008; 32:1429-1443) subdivides them into three groups: 1) typical GCC (Group A); 2) adenocarcinoma ex GCC, signet ring cell type (Group B); and adenocarcinoma ex GCC, poorly differentiated type (Group C). The image shows GCC, group B, which shows irregularly shaped clusters and sheets of signet ring cells. The regular round or oval clusters of Group A GCC are not present. The tumor cells may also show single file or single cell infiltrating pattern.
