Comments:
This refers to an exaggerated inflammatory response usually seen in association with peptic ulcer disease. However, it may be extremely difficult to definitively exclude lymphoma in some cases. The normal glandular architecture is completely effaced and replaced by a dense mixed inflammatory infiltrate consisting of lymphocytes, plasma cells, macrophages, and eosinophils. Scattered reactive germinal centers are seen.
