Comments:
This specimen photograph shows an ulcerated lesion in the distal esophagus. Squamous cell carcinomas of the esophagus tend to ulcerate. On sectioning, they are firm, tan-white masses. Polypoid forms are uncommon and tend to have spindle cell morphology.
