Comments:
Hamartomas are tumor-like masses composed of disorganized benign cells and tissues that are indigenous to the organ/site where they arise. Pulmonary hamartomas are peripherally located, solitary, and well-demarcated masses. They frequently have opalescent or translucent appearance due to cartilaginous tissue. Most cases are discovered incidentally in adults. A non-familial syndrome has been identified consisting of pulmonary hamartoma, functioning extra-adrenal paragangliomas, and epithelioid gastrointestinal stromal tumor of stomach (Carney triad).
