The differential diagnosis is with oligodendroglioma. In small biopsy specimens, it may be impossible to distinguish DNT from oligodendroglioma. Oligodendroglioma is predominantly a white matter lesion. Other features supporting oligodendroglioma include diffuse cortical invasion and perineuronal satellitosis.
