Comments:
This partial cystectomy specimen shows a large tumor arising in the lateral wall of urinary bladder. It was poorly-differentiated squamous cell carcinoma, not associated with Schistosomiasis. Besides Schistosomal infection, other risk factors for squamous cell carcinoma of the bladder include recurrent bacterial infections, indwelling catheters, foreign bodies, and bladder calculi.
