Low-grade Fibromyxoid Sarcoma

Topic: Fibrosarcoma

Category: Fibrous Tissue

slide 8 of 18

Comments:
This focus shows greater cellularity than the previous image (same case). The stroma is largely fibrous - a small myxoid focus is seen on the extreme right. Both low-grade fibromyxoid sarcoma (LGFMS) and hyalinizing spindle cell tumor with giant rosettes carry the same translocation t(7;16) which results in FUS/CREB3L2 fusion. LGFMS carries the risk of multiple local recurrences and even pulmonary metastases.   return to Fibrosarcoma
