Diffuse Large B-cell Lymphoma : Thymus

Topic: Lymphomas of the Mediastinum

Category: Mediastinum

slide 9 of 9

Comments:
High power view of a mediastinal large B-cell lymphoma showing atypical pleomorphic lymphoid cells with a sprinkling of small mature lymphocytes in the background. In formalin fixed specimens, clearing of cytoplasm may create resemblance to seminoma which can also occur in this location. In contrast to diffuse large B-cell lymphomas of other sites, the mediastinal tumors are usually CD23 positive and negative for BCL2 and BCL6 gene rearrangements.   return to Lymphomas of the Mediastinum
