Cat-scratch disease is caused by a gram-negative, pleomorphic, extra-cellular coccobacillary pathogen Bartonella henselae. With Warthin-Starry silver stain, they can be seen singly, in small clumps, or chains in the necrotic foci.   return to Lymphadenitides
