Histology of fibrous dysplasia: Higher magnification of the previous image showing irregular, immature, inadequately mineralized bony trabeculae that lack osteoblastic rimming. A cluster of multinucleated giant cells is seen scalloping the bony trabeculae.

In fibrous dysplasia, the immature woven bone is not transformed into lamellar bone due to maturation defect.
