Some cases of adenoid cystic carcinoma show prominent basaloid features. They are generally composed of solid sheets of high-grade cells with peripheral palisading as shown here. The cells have enlarged hyperchromatic nuclei, prominent nucleoli, scant cytoplasm, and high mitotic rate.
