Comments:
Rare cases of metaplastic breast carcinomas with choriocarcinomatous areas have been reported. Some of these cases are associated with elevated serum levels of beta-hCG. They are highly aggressive tumor and may develop during pregnancy. The possibility of metastases from gestational trophoblastic disease should be excluded.

The tumors are usually soft and hemorrhagic. The image shows normal breast elements on the right and a hemorrhagic, necrotic tumor on the left.
