Comments:
The WHO describes several HCC histologic patterns, including trabecular, acinar, solid, and scirrhous (seen here). Scirrhous patterns contain focal or diffuse fibrosis, which may be associated with any of the other HCC patterns (trabecular, acinar, or solid). The tumor cell nests are separated by fibrous connective tissue. Differentiation from fibrolamellar HCC is based on the absence of abundant granular eosinophilic cytoplasm (as seen in fibrolamellar HCC) and the appropriate clinical setting for each tumor.
