Comments:
Goblet cell carcinoid, Group B (Adenocarcinoma ex GCC, signet ring-cell type). Large irregular clusters and sheets of signet ring cells are infiltrating throughout the wall of the appendix with distortion of the normal architecture. The regular round or oval clusters of GCC, group A, are not seen. Almost 90% of Group B cases present with metastases at the time of presentation. The sites usually involved include right colon and ileum, peritoneum, and omentum. In female patients with metastases, the most commonly involved site are ovaries in the form of Krukenberg tumors.
