Comments:
Mucinous metaplasia is seen in about 1% of prostates. It may occasionally resemble prostatic adenocarcinoma. However, it lacks prominent nucleoli and the does not show immunoreactivity for PSA and PAP. The cells are positive for PAS, mucicarmine and Alcian blue.
