Adenosis

slide 15 of 58

Comments:
At high magnification, the glands have pale cytoplasm in contrast to amphophilic cytoplasm usually seen in cancer. The nuclei are not enlarged appreciably and prominent nucleoli are not present. However, in approximately 30% to 40% of cases of adenosis, prominent nucleoli may be seen. Conversely, about the same proportion of low-grade cancers have no prominent nucleoli.
