Image Description
Cholesterolosis (defined as accumulation of lipid-laden macrophages in the lamina propria of gallbladder) frequently coexists with cholesterol gallstones since both conditions are promoted by supersaturated bile. Macroscopically, there are diffusely arranged, bright yellow linear streaks in the background of green or red gallbladder mucosa. The resulting appearance has been referred to as strawberry gallbladder.
